At the Whitney Mesa Nature Preserve...

A couple of weeks ago, the girls and I had lunch at the Whitney Mesa Nature Preserve. This nature park in Henderson was just recently opened and it's nice because it has really short trails which were perfect for the girls. Most of the trails end with a bench overlooking the rest of the park. Before we started to hike, we sat at the picnic area to have our lunch. While we were eating we had a friendly visit with a roadrunner. Not only was this roadrunner not very scared of us, it was very fond of our In-n-Out fries. Yeah... Yeah... Yeah... we know we are not supposed to feed the animals, but when we threw him the fry, we never thought he was going to actually eat it. We thought he would just run away... MEEP...MEEP.

After eating our lunch, we started on the trails. Boy was I relieved when I noticed that the trails did no go very far and they ended with a bench. Of course, I had the girls sit at the benches while I snapped some photos. In this first photo, Victoria wanted me to take a photo as if they were looking out into the great “wilderness”.

In these next photos, the girls were acting silly and I took a couple of photos in sequence to record their silliness. I really enjoy these photos in sequence…

Of course, while we walked around I took some photos of the local birds…

All trails in all the parks in the world should end in benches…
